At the Annual General Meeting in January at the Cromwell Radisson Andy Aldo and Steve Henderson are elected to resume their duties as Vice President and Treasurer, respectively. Dave Carmody took over as League Corresponding Secretary from Garry Archer who resigned in December 1996. League President Ken Brown convinced (twisted the arm of) Garry to take the newly vacant League Recording Secretary position.

Ken Brown resigned as manager of Glastonbury World Class in order to focus on his duties to the League. Glastonbury lost their sponsorship and became Glastonbury FC, plain and simple.

Connecticut Rhinos continued their annual ritual of changing names and became Rhinos SC (perhaps they should have called themselves The Chameleons instead!).

Four new teams joined the League; Branford United, Greenwich Arsenal, Knights of Haller Post (New Britain) and Norwalk International. Branford United were formed by ex-players of New Haven Italians.

Waterbury Morse Watchman won the League and Cup "Double" for an unprecedented second season running.
