The SASL had a distinguished guest at the Annual General Meeting in January at the Cromwell Radisson.Richard Rough, Treasurer of the USSF, talked to the assembly about the USA's plans for the World Cup Finals to be hosted by the USA in 1994.

Cheshire Azzurri manager Andy Aldo became Recording Secretary and Garry Archer became Corresponding Secretary. Both were new positions, dividing the duties of Garry's former position of League Secretary.

The SASL Disciplinary Committee became defunct in favour of letting the Connecticut State Soccer Association deal with all necessary League discipline. The SASL Executive Board was, however, still empowered to add any fines or suspensions to those already given by the CSSA.

The SASL swelled to 30 Over-30 teams, but there was still no Over-40 applicants.

Finally, after seeing them in other Over-30 competitions, Connecticut Internationals from Sherman and the White Eagles from Bridgeport decide to leave their old leagues to join the SASL.

Other Connecticut Soccer League teams decide to make the jump to Over-30: Derby Old Boys; for the SASL they name themselves Derby New Old Boys! Hartford Cavaliers; another West Indian team.

Other new teams are Wallingford Ginos, sponsored by Gino's restaurant, New Haven United and Waterbury SC. Waterbury SC are made up of several Albanians who formerly played for Waterbury Portuguese.

Celtic Old Boys FC changed name to Glastonbury Celtic FC, Fairfield InterSporting changed to Fairfield Inter AC and Hamden United became North Haven-Hamden United.

As the number of teams grew, so did the number of divisions. The Second Division was split into Second Division East and Second Division West.

The SASL formally became Incorporated in 1993.

New Haven Portuguese reached the quarter-finals of the 1992-93 USSF Over-30 National Cup and everyone felt they were good enough to go all the way, but many events conspired against them in their 2-0 loss away in Baltimore. Firstly, and inexplicably, New Haven Portuguese, originally drawn as the home team, were told by the USSF that the game was switched to Baltimore. The directions to the Baltimore hotel they were registered for were unbelievably poor and the team spent the early hours of the morning -- of the day of the game -- trying to find a hotel who had room to take a whole team. With little sleep, when The Ports finally arrived at the field for the game, the grass was not mown. The state of the pitch and the long night travelling and finding their hotel told on some tired legs in the end and the physical Baltimore style endured to win the match.

The National Soccer Hall of Fame inaugurated an Over-40 tournament in Oneonta, NY in 1992, but no Connecticut teams were represented. For their second year, this year, however, Madison AFC and Glastonbury Celtic FC joined forces to create an Over-40 team. The "Madison Celtic" team played well, but were unable to progress past the group stage. The quality of teams and players in the tournament, however, showed these SASL players that there is still life after 40 years of age and teams and players can still be highly competitive at this level.

A record eight SASL teams attended the Over-30 tournament in Oneonta this year. Glastonbury World Class ended as beaten semi-finalists, 1-0, but the eventual champions, Coliseum SC of New York state. Coliseum needed extra time and penalties to beat Connectict Internationals in the final.

In the Fall a record seven teams from the SASL entered the 1993-94 USSF Over-30 National Cup ; New Haven Italians, Glastonbury Celtic FC, Connecticut Internationals, White Eagles SC, SC Nutmeggers, Madison AFC and Waterbury PSC 'A'. The Connecticut final was played in the Spring of 1994.

The SASL Executive Board was very sad to receive the resignation of long-time member John Heskes as League Registrar & Treasurer in October.
