The third edition of the Official SASL Rules was printed and distributed.

After years of holding League meetings at various bars around southern Connecticut, the Portuguese-American Club in Wallingford was soon becoming the favoured central location to hold all SASL meetings.

The Italians moved to play at East Shore park in New Haven and hence changed their name.

Glastonbury entered the League after playing friendlies against most SASL teams during 1986.

New Haven Portuguese entered the League after skimming over-30 players from their New Haven Flavia team in the Connecticut Soccer League.

The first official League Table is distributed, but only Fall games were included and published.

Drastic changes occurred in the Fall of 1987.

Founder Alfie Campbell was in the middle of a serious personal crisis and on 1st November, 1987, was forced to retire from the League temporarily.

Hamden's English manager, Vic Smith, volunteered to take over as League Commissioner.

To take advantage of insurance and referees for 1988 the SASL affiliated with the Connecticut State Soccer Association at the end of the year with help from Glastonbury manager Ken Brown, originally from Glasgow, Scotland.
