It is with huge regret and sadness that we have to report that Dave Carmody passed away on Friday, 29th June, 2007 after illness with cancer. He was 66 years old. CLICK HERE FOR THE OFFICIAL OBITUARY Dave was affiliated with the West Haven Peru Soccer Club (SASL Over-30s) and West Haven Grays Soccer Club (SASL Masters League -- Over-40s) where he had been one of the managers as well as a player for many years. Dave will probably be best remembered as a valued member of the SASL Executive Board where he worked in several capacities, noteably League Secretary, for 12 years from 1995 to 2007. Dave also ran for and was voted in as the President of the Connecticut State Soccer Association (CSSA) for two years in 2004. In 2006 he stepped down and became Vice President, the position he held until he passed away. He was also the CSSA State Cups Commissioner since at least 2004. In his capacities in the CSSA, Dave represented Connecticut soccer at the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) Region I (Northeastern states) level many times at national functions and events. A memorial service was held on Monday, 2nd July at the St. Lawrence Church, West Haven. Dave will be sadly missed as a valuable member of the SASL as a player, manager and administrator. Our prayers and deepest sympathies go to his family from all of us in the brotherhood of the Shoreline Adult Soccer League.
