Bertil A. Larson

Bertil A. Larson

20th November, 1912 -- 9th January, 2003

It is with huge regret and sadness that we have to report that Bert Larson passed away peacefully on Thursday, 9th January, 2003.

Bert was best known to many players and managers from the early years of the Shoreline Adult Soccer League in his various capacities in the Connecticut State Soccer Association.

Bert was well known throughout his life for soccer in some capacity in the northeastern United States. Many players, managers, referees and administrators who visit the SASL Website were personal friends of Bert and have known him for many long years.

Obituary from the Hartford Courant published on Sunday, January 12th, 2003

Many thanks to Michael Cosentino of Windsor United S.C. for passing the obituary on to me. Michael was a neighbour of Bert's for a couple of years and he watched some of the 2002 World Cup games with him last summer.

One thing the Hartford Courant appear to have omitted from the obituary is that Bert was in the first class of Connecticut soccer legends inducted into the Connecticut Soccer Hall of Fame in January 1999.

Bert will be sadly missed as a valuable member of the Connecticut soccer community. Our prayers and deepest sympathies go to his family from all of us in the brotherhood of the Shoreline Adult Soccer League.

Bert, from all of us here in the Shoreline Adult Soccer League, the Connecticut State Soccer Association, the Connecticut State Referee's Association and all of the other soccer leagues in Connecticut, past and present, rest in peace.
